The Darmstadt Flying Club e.V. (DFC) was formed at the end of 1993 from the former American Military Darmstadt Flying Club in Germany.
The DFC is an English-speaking, internationally-oriented Flying Club and is looking for pilots of all levels of experience. New members must have a keen interest in flying and be prepared to help out in the running of the Club. Americans, ID card holders or ordinary US citizens living in Germany are especially welcome. The current membership is approximately 20% US with the rest made up of 20% English, 50% German and 10% other European nationals. All members should be able to speak fluent English. Expertise in all skills is very welcome.
Currently we operate a Cessna 152 (N1349Z) and a Cessna 172 (N98825) out of the Egelsbach Airfield, Germany (near Frankfurt International Airport). Both aircraft are American registered with all taxes and duties paid.Members can also use an ATC 610 Ground Trainer on which flight hours can be logged towards the FAA Instrument Rating. We use 2 lockers in Egelsbach to store aircraft documentation and airfield charts. In addition, we can use the airport pre-flight planning room.
All current members are holders of US Pilot Certificates and we have 4 US-qualified Flight Instructors (CFII). We can assist with training courses and can give Biennial Flight Reviews, Instrument Competency Checks and an initial orientation flight in Germany. Training and initial pilot certification is given in the USA through flight schools approved by the DFC. Any member wanting to obtain further pilot certificates or ratings will be given the full support of the Club and its resources.
Initial contact with the DFC for prospective members should be made via the General Manager. |
